HUTCHISON APOLOGISES FOR GOUGH PUSH

Don Hutchison has apologised to both Richard Gough and Everton fans after he pushed the Scottish defender to the floor during Saturday's draw with Coventry. Hutchison was booed for the remainder of the match after the clash.

"I just wish I could take it all back," said Hutchison. "I am ashamed of what I did and I know as captain I should be leading by example. I apologised to Goughie as soon as we got in the changing rooms and told him I was out of order. He accepted that and we went out for a meal that night.

"Now I want to apologise to the fans as well. It was upsetting to be booed at the end of the game and I heard some of the comments on the radio phone-ins. I can totally understand their reaction.

"It was just a silly argument to be honest," he said. "We were both desperate to win the game because we knew there was a chance we could go second in the league if we did.

"After the start we had things didn't then go as we hoped and that's when the frustrations start to set in. I thought we could be doing better and to be fair to Goughie he wasn't letting anyone down.

"The frustration got the better of me, but it certainly wasn't malicious. As I say it was just frustration because we knew what winning the game meant," Hutchison told the Liverpool Post.
