DEFENSIVE CHANGES LIKELY FOR TROTTERS

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce could be forced to ring the changes in defence ahead of Saturday's home game with Charlton. Central defender Mark Fish is struggling with a hamstring injury picked up after his return from the energy sapping African Nations Championships. Meanwhile, left-back Mike Whitlow could also miss out on the Reebok Stadium clash with a groin injury sustained in training earlier this week.

Dean Holden also starts a four-match ban following his head-butt on Addicks man John Robinson in the FA Cup clash between the two sides Allardyce is left with only Gudni Bergsson from the back four that started against Barnsley.

Former Everton full-back John O'Kane could replace Holden after coming through his second successive reserve game unscathed earlier in the week, while Gareth Farrelly, back from suspension, gives Allardyce options at left back and in midfield, with Robbie Elliott likely to replace Whitlow in the back four.

On-loan Paul Ritchie could complete the changes by deputising for Fish, although Allardyce also has Greg Strong available.
