LUIS ENRIQUE TO MISS EURO 2000
Ruptured Knee Cartilage Almost Certain To Rule Out Barca Star
SPAIN's Euro 2000 chances suffered a blow today when Barcelona announced that striker Luis Enrique will be out for three months as a result of a ruptured cartilage in his right knee.
The knee had been troubling Enrique since the 4-2 victory over Porto in last Wednesday's Champions League match.
Further exploratory tests revealed the injury was worse than first thought and that it effectively ruled him out of Euro 2000 which takes place from June 12 to July 2 in Holland and Belgium.
The 29-year-old has won over 40 caps and played for Spain in the 1994 and 1998 World Cup finals.
