SEVILLA COACH RESIGNS
Alonso Quits Spanish Strugglers
MARCOS ALONSO has resigned as coach of Sevilla, currently bottom of Spain's Primera Liga, becoming the fifth managerial casualty of the season in Spain.
Alonso took charge of Diego Maradona's former club mid-way through last season and guided them to promotion after two years outside of the top flight.
However, they have struggled throughout this season, winning just four of their 27 games, and now find themselves six points adrift of Real Oviedo at the bottom of Spain's top division. The decision to quit came after Sunday's 1-0 home defeat by Valladolid.
